Safety Is My Middle Name S1E1: First Aid with special guest Amy Gault, Splat Training.
Kevin and Amy have a light-hearted discussion about the latest changes in first aid training, and on various issues relating to the subject, including why men refuse to use a defibrillator on a woman, and talk about some general health and safety issues.
Also, find out what the weirdest item she has ever found in a first aid kit.
Amy Gault is the Director and Trainer at Splat Training — a health and safety and first aid training company she set up 11 years ago after being made redundant.
Before that, Amy spent most of her working life as an Outdoor Leader, teaching everything from climbing and canoeing to mountain walking, DofE, archery, and loads more.
These days, she brings that same outdoorsy, hands-on energy into the training room, where she’s all about learning through doing — not sitting still and trying to memorise things.
Amy believes first aid training should never feel like a tick-box exercise, and she’s passionate about making it practical, engaging, and actually enjoyable, so people leave feeling confident and ready to help in real life.
Alongside delivering training, Amy looks after the team, keeps in touch with Splat’s lovely customers, and keeps an eye on what’s next in the world of health and safety — all while reminding people that you don’t have to know everything… you just have to do your best.
